The preliminary task was centred on the theme of continuity and as such required consistency regarding actor's clothing, placement of props and movements made. The brief specified that we should show a character opening a door, meeting another character, and exchanging a few lines of dialogue. Whilst doing all of these things, we also had to demonstrate the media techniques of 'match on action' and 'shot/reverse shot', whilst acknowledging and complying to the '180 degree rule'.
After a group brainstorming session, it was agreed that the story line to our short film would be the reaction of the protagonist to the death of her pet fish.
As a group we thoroughly enjoyed the creation process of our production and felt that we understood and fulfilled the task brief. Positive feedback from our classmates reaffirmed this point.
In hindsight, we think that we could have improved upon the sound of our production, as the dialogue is very quiet, at some points of the film. Additionally, after doing our best to edit them out, there were still some high levels of background noises that distract from the clarity of the dialogue being spoken.
